AMC--Chapter Fifty-One

Apr 21, 2006 08:33

I have decided to divide the last part of AMC into two posts. It is simply too long for a single posting, and I wish also to tinker a bit with next week's chapter, as there is a rather important event that deserves more attention than I--in the rush of finishing a 350K-word novel--was willing to give it at first ( Read more... )

Thank you, Alina, for your wonderfully kind words! {{{{{{{{{Alina}}}}}}}}} As I told oloriel above, these first four comments have really made my morning. I am grinnin' like a fool! 8^D

Oh, Dawn, I love them. Thanks to your story, they've long ceased being just fictional characters. They feel like real people to me and I love them. I LOVE HIM. And it's all your fault.

*blushes and shifts around* This was what I set out to do, so this is really the highest compliment that I can get. I had been so frustrating with the litany of shallow evil!Feanorian stories out there that I had to take on the challenge to see if I could do differently. And so we have AMC. :)

And I will gladly accept the blame for making you love Feanor all the more. ;)

Vorondil made me laugh, trying to be dignified and all, when all he wished was to join the others in the water. And I loved the fact that Feanaro treated him no differently from his sons.

Vorondil plays a pretty big role later in the story, to the extent that I have even considered writing a story about just him. But that won't be for some time now. :) Still, he does become, basically, an extended part of their family, beginning in this story where, hopefully, some of his stiffness around them starts to melt away. So he and Nelyo are becoming friends, now this...all to make way for his role in their tales. :)

Needless to say I almost swooned when you described Maitimo braiding his hair and painting flames near his eye.

Me too! >;^D But remember: He's mine, preciousssss, all mine! You get Feanaro. ;)

(Who I think is probably also going commando to the festivities, knowing him!)

Rumil's appearance is wonderfully done, as well. That he and Feanaro can communicate through sign language is no surprise, both being masters of speech and letters.

I'm pretty sure that's what they've been doing all this time in Rumil's room.* Practicing their new skill. I wonder who devised it, Feanor or Rumil? I think I'd settled on Feanor, but I'll have to think more on it if this ever becomes an issue.

(The sign language will be used again. The boys will use it in hunting and, later, in combat.)

*A wicked slash bunny just popped up and said, "Oh, yeah?" >:^]]

Oh, but the image of that naughty little firefly landing on the tip of Feanaro's ear... that was too much.

I love fireflies. And I love ears. And I love Feanor (although he is all yours, preciousss!) And I totally agree! *happy shiver*

I don't think I could ever thank you enough for writing such an amazing story and for sharing it.

You just have. :) The kindness and support I've been shown over the course of writing/posting AMC has been a greater thanks than I ever hoped to get for my writing. I feel indebted to you for this (because I would have written this story, even if it was never shared. Writing has always been less a choice for me than a need fulfilled.)

So thank you! :)

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Dawn}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} You deserve to be grinning like a fool. That's what I was doing, while reading the chapter. Grinning like a love sick fool. :D

O, yea! Let me at him! Let me at him! Whoa, the things I'd do to that Elf if I caught him going commando... anywhere!
