What did you do this weekend?

I went to my sister's Pimp'n'Ho Extravaganza birthday party to celebrate the evening of her youth before she slips into her cougar years. It was a great party in an über urban-chic condo, but we got there 3 hours late. We didn't get there late because we were wary of her friends we didn't know, which we were, nor because we were hesitant and slightly embarassed to show our over-the-top costumes we'd just assembled, which we were, but because we got in a bad collision before we got there.

It was pretty bad. We were running a green across the intersection when a small Russian lady tried to eke a left in front of us. Maybe she didn't see us, maybe she thought her minivan had more horsepower in it, maybe we didn't expect her to turn. In any case, we wound up t-boning her smack in the middle of the intersection despite best efforts. She spun a bit. The front right corner of our trusty Flamey, a second- or third-hand Saturn SL1, was crushed in. The engine bock warped, acrid smoke billowed.

Everyone came out in one piece. A little shaken, but in one piece. Except for Flamey. I, having the misfortune not to be wearing my seatbelt at the time, had bounced up and hit the roof of the car which resulted in a sprained neck. Rowan, sitting nearest to the point of impact, got the most out of her seatbelt and now has bruises on her chest.

After walking away from the scene of the collision, Rowan and I went to Shoppers to look for some muscle rub that we knew we would need. Unfortunately, it was nearly closing time and they were locking up. However, who did I see locking up the front door but Ed?! (He was looking pretty good.) Despite having spoken no words to each other for the better part of 5 years, he let us in. Unfortunately, we didn't find what we were looking for. Nice guy, that Ed.
