Summer kitty died around 9:00. She apparently hadn't eaten anything in days. Hard to tell when 5 cats share dishes and she lives under the bed. She was in liver failure, and in a lot of pain. The only options for care were very expensive and uncertain to do any good. We decided to put her down. She went very peacefully, we got her purring and trying to get us both to pet her at once (and succeeding) before she went. We stayed with her throughout and she just put her head down and went to sleep.
Strange and sudden and very sad. We could have helped her days ago but her behavior didn't change until this morning.
pull_toy helped us. Thanks to all of you who offered. Nicky (her brother) seems to be sleeping in Tyro's room, and the other humans really didn't interact with her a whole lot, so it's just me and Justin being sad and missing our sweet calico pain in the butt who was scared of everything except people.
