bad code
I have to post this, because I can't really bitch where I'm working. I mean, I could, but it wouldn't really help.
I am working on some other guys code. I can't tell if he was a rank amateur, or just REALLY AWFUL. He's references a second database (a dev copy of the real one) in 141 places. Not as a mistake, no, he MEANT to use two databases. For an application where the biggest table is around 1500 records long. In other words, Access could have handled it. There is no reason to use two databases here. I have never seen this, not in 6 years of db application development.
I'm getting the feeling that the guys who worked here sucked. As in they thought they could get away with anything because the woman in charge is 1) a woman, and 2) blind. Literally. This is AFB, after all.
I hope they give me enough time to finish the work. I really want to straighten the thing out for them. Maybe even leave some documentation. It's just hard to focus when every 5 minutes you want to throw the laptop accross the room because there are no comments, NOT ONE, and no documentation, and god forbid someone were to put their name on something.
Please, other geeks, give me some backup on this. I'm starting to feel a little crazy.
