The Wild Rose Ren Faire wasn't bad, for a first year. Very small, but I think it'll really take off with the proper care. Advertisement would really help. I only attended the first day of the LEP's weekend there. During the night I had some... problems. I had set up a jungle hammock, which has a little canopy and bug netting. All I had brought for warmth/comfort was a fleece blanket that apparently wasn't big enough to cover even my small frame completely. That didn't really become an issue until after I had to fix my setup. I don't know what caused it, but a half hour after lying down, my hammock slipped down until I was almost on the ground. After fixing that in the darkness I tried to get comfortable, but some part of me was always cold. Stupid fleece mumblepout. Off to the super Walmart conveniently close by where I bought a sleeping bag. The short trip back was lengthened somewhat when I failed to notice the road I needed to bear left on. Finally able to be warm and secure I again attempted to sleep.
For the past hour or so I had been seeing lightning flashes, followed twenty seconds later by a thunderclap. No big deal, that seems pretty far away. About forty-five minutes after I lay down in my sleeping bag I started to hear rain pattering on my canopy. Still dry and that sound helps put me to sleep. *smiles contentedly* Soon the rain picks up dramatically. Now its pouring buckets and my face is getting a little wet as the rain comes through my bug netting. "No problem.", I thought. "I can ignore this. I'll just cover my face with my sleeping bag." Not so long after that I definitely felt water running down my back. "Screw this!" And I went to my car, swearing. Sitting in the passenger seat covering myself up with the fleece I tried to get comfortable and somehow started the car alarm off. Three times I had to silence the damn thing. Once triggering it by putting the key into the ignition! Not something I want to find out at four in the morning. I ended up sleeping in the tiny cargo area of my tiny car.
After they got me up I really didn't feel like spending the day there, so I was gone by nine. I'm not even going to say what happened before my shower at home. So there.
A few days before the faire I had gotten it into my head that if I could get ahold of 3 roses (one for the first month anniversary and 2 for the second month) I would drive to Chagrin Falls and surprise my Gypsy. There were no 'real' roses at the Wild Rose Ren Faire. Ironic, but the loose leaf tea man had some glass flowers that he was selling for a friend. I bought one for my girl and was definitely going to visit the next day. So, after I was cleaned up on Sunday morn, I was off to pick up some actual roses. One dozen was the best deal so I took them. Not very romantic sounding, but I'm kinda' poor. Anyhow, I started on the interstate at about around noon? I knew that she was going to be doing something with her cousin and didn't know exactly how long. So I ended up hanging out in a cul de sac that wasn't developed yet for about three hours. I occupied myself by reading one of the books I got at the faire and almost fell asleep after my eyes got too tired. Then I bought some water. I'm rambling. I drove past her house and turned around a couple miles past it and ended up in front of her mother and her who were just returning from shopping stuff, I think.
"What are you doing here?!"
"Surprising you!"
I'm so glad I got to see her, even for just a few hours. It should make my week just bearable. I love her, even though I'm an asshole and she hates me. ;)
