My mom just told me about how today she was watching ants on our back porch and watching as they one by one stole the catfood out of the catfood bowl and took it down into their little "ant hole." She watched as this one ant tried and tried to get his chunk of food down the hole but couldn't get it to fit and how all these other ants were passing

I wonder if the ant would have been reprimanded for his failed attempt at providing food. And while she was trying to help out, maybe your mom made him look even more incompetant?

Everyone needs a little help, doesn't show weakness- if anything it's the natural way of life.

I agree with you, and as humans we have the resources to believe such a thing. Ants, maybe not so much. We are fundamentally and, more importantly, biologically different.
