But not the end of the world. Or at least that's the mantra I'm telling myself right now. On the ear update. Went to ENT specialist today. After multiple tests and checks and poking and prodding and applying pressure and removing pressure. It was determined yes, I have an ear infection.
Alright, so I'm being a little silly, trying to laugh instead of being sad. Doc says it was not allergies, it was a rare infection that doesn't happen very often, but does and can happen. Me being a case in point. Yay. Lucky me. He suspects it was the previous throat/nose infection that did indeed move it's way into the ear. Something again, that surprisingly doesn't happen as often as one would guess.
He says it wouldn't have mattered had I came in the day it happened, or came in now, or came in later. The damage happened pretty quickly regardless. There's still some junk in there hence the constant ringing and pulse hearing, but he saw less fluid in the center area than was likely there before. So they've got me on an even more aggressive (steroid) antibiotic for this week, he's guessing the ear ringing will be gone by end of week. I hope so, I rrrrrreally hope so! But, upon two different sets of hearing tests and analysis, the infection actually did nerve damage, his prediction (despite optimism) is that I have indeed lost a portion of hearing out of the left ear that will not be returning even when I finally get well. Damage done. So sorry.
Which I tell myself at least I didn't loose all hearing, and who knows, come the second round of followUp and tests scheduled a week from today, a miracle could happen I like to think. So I choose to remain ever optimistic. It's gotten me this far yeah? Yeah.
