Simpsons Game You Vex Me so....

Admittedly, I didn't jump on the tablet bandwagon-at all really, I thought the pricing was too ridiculous-but then the school gave me a (oh so) high-end generation one iPad and I started testing it out to just 'see' what it could do. And of course like all good smart devices I fell into the gaming side of it. Only rough patch is seeing some great games that work on the iPad Air but definitely not the first generation, d'oh.

I had encountered the Free-to-play/Freemium content, but usually I didn't know how much a difference it makes to pay versus 'just play' until Simpsons came along and allowed me to view my friends Springfield villages. Another good psychological use of "keeping up with the Joneses" implementation. But I still gave it time. I've grown up with the Simpsons characters for the most part so the humor in it satisfies, actual voice overs, good. Etc. Etc.

Seeing my Springfield move along at the same rate as my friends towns worked well, then clearly the friends spent money on the content and launched way, way ahead. Which I was fine, in no rush. But after spending nearly a year with the game, admiring their storytelling working with actual new show tie-ins, I ended up giving up on it, I was pushing the same functions too repeatedly, and with my not willing to spend money on digital extras my Springfield stunted its growth...so at the first of this 2014 year I stopped playing nearly entirely.

I have a fondness for that little Simpson family, and the game itself is entertaining for a bit. But the Freemium model is just evil/whack/cruel when they dangle Simpson fun in-front of me. I'm not complaining-yes I am-I suppose it could be worse, I could go try that CandyCrush app, I've heard good horror stories of money lost there.

fedup, tapped out, game, outy, simpsons
