movie review

So, I convinced my girlfriend to take me to Sweeney Todd instead of Juno. (but she's got more tickets, and 2 votes next time, so who knows what'll happen next).
I was not disappointed, so I was pleased. The Tim Burton showed through in the gratuitously bloody opening credits (which were also somewhat poor computer graphics) and murder scenes, but other than that it was fine. The music was still there, with a few pieces missing. (no chorus, judge wrestling with his 'conscience' song, or love duet between Antony and Joanna, or the piano favorites, and a snippet here and there.) It took a little getting used to, but the voices worked, including the accents. I was also pleased with Snape- I mean, Alan Rickman's ability to portray passion in the Judge role. Still would've liked to see the song, though.

So, I don't know how it would seem to someone who wasn't a fan of the play, but I liked it.
