I'm not giving in, yet! I will get back on the journaling train! I haven't stuck to the weekly thing, yet, but I can do it!
Okay, enough pixelated cheerleading. I'm feeling relatively rested after a nice Valentine's weekend. Each year I think about how it isn't really a holiday I put much stress on. I always go back to read about previous Valentine's Days; they never were a time to feel special, really, at least not in the last few years, except for last year and this year.
We decided not to make a big deal of the holiday money-wise, which is right up my alley because I do think the commercialism of the holiday can really take away from it. I got cards for the kids, and chocolate-covered cherries like my grandpa used to get me, and spent Saturday with them. Keith and I introduced them to Ticket to Ride, and they loved it! I think we're going to turn Ben into a European board gamer, hehe. Katie isn't quite old enough to stick with these kinds of games, though she did pretty well with the train game. I think she might enjoy them more once she gets older. I can really see Ben turning into the board game/video game/bookworm. :) We haven't introduced him to Settlers yet because that one is definitely too complicated for Katie, but maybe one of these nights when Katie is at a friend's house for the night. He really enjoyed Ticket to Ride and said he would love to play it again. Keith is into Settlers now; I'm so glad he enjoys games with me.
Anyway, the kids went to their mom's Saturday afternoon, and I spent the entire evening lying around and recovering from Random Mystery Sickness. I don't know what it was/is, but the symptoms started on Thursday. I got a pretty bad headache at first, and then some pretty serious fatigue set in - very uncharacteristic of me. I spent the day on Friday feeling extremely wiped, and after school while I did some work, my skin started to crawl all pins-and-needles-like. It felt like my whole back - backs of my legs, backs of my knees, etc. - was sunburned. It was all sensitive to touch, especially my clothing. Also had a tiny cough, a little rattle in my lungs, and no appetite. I was wiped that night - ate dinner and went to bed really early. I also got up and went to kickboxing on Sat. morning, though I'm not sure that was a great idea. Made it through kbox pretty well, actually, but got some bad nausea at the end and went straight home and passed out for awhile. I could barely move; I ended up taking a nice, long shower and then heading to Keith's for the rest of the day/evening, which was spent relaxing on the couch with him and the kids and watching movies and the Olympics (as I mentioned in the beginning of the paragraph!).
I get a good night's sleep Sat. night. We went to church and then lunch afterwards, then spent the afternoon relaxing some more. I needed it... My body is still battling the Random Mystery Sickness, though the fatigue has mostly faded and I'm really only stuck with the cough. Got some reading done for class, etc. Same routine today, mostly. We got some McD's for breakfast and spent the afternoon watching movies and playing Settlers. I had to go to class then, which was okay, but I'm tired now. OJ is relaxing with me and I've got another movie in, and I just finished some macaroni and cheese with sliced turkey franks, an old favorite that thankfully doesn't taste too different now that I have to use soymilk instead of real milk. I intended to do some more wedding prep.....
Oh yeah! Wedding plans. We're doing great - Got the church, got a reception hall, got a photographer. We met with him last week and both really liked him. I really feel good about his style and about what we're getting for our money - it was important to me to find a photographer who I knew I could count on to catch the moments I don't get to catch on that day. I'm currently inquiring into DJ's, and have some good leads thanks to my Saturday morning kickboxing ladies. :) That should get taken care of this week, and then I can start thinking about getting the gang together to go dress shopping! I've looked at styles a lot online and as far as necklines go, I'll probably get either a strapless or asymmetrical one. I also like the high-neck ones, but haven't seen too many of that style. As far as the skirt, I'll have to stay away from trumpet or mermaid style, which is fine with me. I've been leaning more toward the A-line or empire/goddess fashion. I like the flowy, chiffon-like fabrics a lot.
I suppose I should start thinking about getting addresses and stuff... Hmmm. The task of entering all that information is pretty daunting, but I figure that if I do a few here and there, it won't end up being such a taxing task.
Anyway, not much else else to report. I plan on going to bed as soon as I can again so I'm not dragging tomorrow. OJ is a purring mass of fur next to me, glad to have her person to herself.
