Day 23. 19:35.

The last day in Cologne was nice. I walked around a lot as it is nice to walk along the river. I got caught in the rain but not for long. I cooked my own dinner for th first time in Europe and had an interesting time sitting opposite an older guy from Senegal. He mumbled a lot in his own language and found it ok to spit out bits of his dinner when he felt like it. I guess that´s ok in Senegal and I do my best to respect everyone´s habits and traditions. I shared a room with Marathon Man from Tokyo, the girl from Hong Kong and 2 Korean girls. It´s the first time I´ve talked to people from South East Asia and it was interesting to talk about things other than America, Europe and Australia, although I would have liked the Korean girls to have been more social, as I´m keen to know more about that area of the world.

The trip to Munich was filled with problems. Apparently I had missed my train, even though it was the only one to Munich for hours and was at the right time. I managed to hop on it, although in Germany, reserving a seat on a train does not mean you will get a seat. So I hoped between seat for the 5 hour trip. Unfortunately the smoker´s carriage had a lot of empty seats, which now mean smoking is my most hated habit as I coughed and choked my way across Germany. It seems as though if you are allowed to smoke on a train it means you must chain smoke constantly for the whole time. How can people commit a slow suicide like this? I guess the tabacoo companies made some money so at least someone is happy.

My hostel is fab. Friendly staff, a cheap bar, nice room, only 2 other people in it, both girls, clean baths and showers. Fantastic!

I had time to walk around Munich before rain and bad news forced me to head back to the hostel. I´ve booked a hostel and a train to Berlin. Hopefully events back home will not hinder my progress, which has been excellent so far. The schedule remain, and I hope will remain, Berlin for the weekend, before heading to Copenhagen on the Monday, ready for my flight on Wednesday. It´s almost over!

Auf wiedersan!
