To be Endlessly Cold Within

Alright day, basically went home and slept...wrote a short poem/essay. Its alright, a little rushed.

Everywhere in life there are boundaries restricting admittance into a variety of things (and places). I am not concerned about the solid and substantial barriers such as walls, fences, doors, ect. I am pertaining to the invisible and indistinguishable obstacles that profoundly plague society and hinder breeching the void that eminently divides our delicate society. “You know where it ends, it usually depends on where you start,” (lyrics from Everclear’s song What it’s Like) exemplifies one of the dispiriting barriers in our worldly community. We are judged and criticized before we are even born. If your parents are part of the upper class or “aristocracy”, then you are brought into the world celebrated and glorified. If your parents are in the lower class, you enter the world as unrespectable and often demoralized. And for what reason? What could justify this unjust persecution? Being on trial for something you had no control over is unfair and appalling. What kind of society prevents people from rising the social hierarchy solely because of birth? Then of course is the social barrier between the popular and the less popular Goths, nerds, and just plain normal kids. People try to construe the unfounded explanation that the less popular kids want to be social outcasts and only crave attention. Why would anyone not want to be liked? Honestly. That is a lame attempt to bowdlerize the devastating truth that the popular people debase their less fortunate counterparts in society. Better-dressed, endless wealth, and good looks seem to administer and entitle them the right to be better than everyone else. Rarely do you see someone without their good fortunes climb the social latter. And even rarer do you see anyone question them (that would be similar to blasphemy). Why does there have to be a division or gap in society? What’s the advantage? Other barriers, much more familiar to the apathetic and uncaring society, such as race, religion, gender, ect. are still widely existent. All throughout mankind there have been social barriers based on the color of skin, the gods (or lack thereof) we worship, or our sex; they have been dreadfully staining the reputation of our society. I offer no solutions. All I offer is awareness. Maybe you should raise your conscious and realize how bad our society is. You, unlike me, may be able to offer hopeful suggestions. I personally feel disheartened to say that I see no end to the structured society of barriers.
