Car battery

Your mileage might vary, but if this is a normally frequently driven around-town car, you can probably get by with a battery recharge. Most cars place a small drain on the battery even when parked, and while you left the planet, that continued. Any battery would run out if left sitting in a car long enough. Most (ordinary lead-acid) batteries will become less effective gradually with use until a cell erodes through, at which time you really need to replace it. -Rik

In this case my mechanic has warned me for the last couple of checkups that the battery was dying and would need to be replaced soon, so it's definitely time. I just need to jump-start the car and drive it to the mechanic today.
Will you be coming to Norwescon and giving your presentation there? I just got my programming survey this morning, and they're all very rush-rush about it so I'm wondering.
No, we're going to a square dance event in DC on Norwescon weekend. I'll be presenting my Mars talk at Potlatch, though. It's March 5-7 at the Hotel Deca in the U District.
Norwescon actually conflicts with the ECR 25th-anniversary dance in San Jose. We're in DC on the weekend of Radcon.... but we're choosing Potlatch over a dance event in Seattle. Juggling two fandoms is hard!
