Well GG, lost my no.1 spot for the first time in 8? years, and deservedly so, also in the year where I dropped 2100 for the first time in a decade. Is this the start of the permanent decline? With children potentially on the horizon, it very well may be, and now I am dedicating more of my spare time to playing table tennis, which I intend to take more seriously. Chris has also lifted his game a lot recently, so any minor dip was enough to give him the no.1 spot. As for my games today, I did not play well, and I made two very big word knowledge errors.

In a frustrating game against Andrew I played quite well until one of my last moves where I missed a tricky LEEAR, playing too quickly in annoyance of what had been quite a good game until Andrew outdrew me midgame (i had only dropped a point or two until then). Still, this little blunder cost me 2-3 win%. Against Peter I played well enough, a strange 5 point error early (getting tilted from my previous loss), and then an oversight of KUEH for -8.

It was against Naween that the wheels came off. I played very well, perfectly even until it came to the pre-endgame where I did not remember SKALD, which cost me 18 points, and a boatload of win%. Naween had a fortunate bingo and I couldn't recover. I then played a very strange game against Edward where I played ANTIMONY, suspecting he would know the hook but I knew there was a chance he would not. This resulted in some slight potential misjudgments on my behalf.

For a start in this game, edward opened with MOD, and I played OUZO keeping MIA very quickly. This is fucking lazy and shit, and MIAOU is a full 7 points better. I think I was getting fed up at this point, and also I was running out of time a lot. I didn't see MIAOU very quickly and that's just a lack of study I suppose. MIAOU was the real dump though, and though I only lost 14 equity this game, I finally cracked and lost 100 equity in the last game, wrongly turning down VIVIFIERS, totally rattled after the decision (-60) managing to completely run out of time and lose another 40 for one of my worst oneday tournaments in a long time. I guess most of my equity loss was from my two word knowledge mistakes. meh? I don't like this report.
