Movie Night With Our Daughter

Last night, my wife and I introduced our older daughter to a couple of classic movies.  It was a cold night, we a had a fire burning, had just finished a nice dinner, and we were looking for something to do.  (The younger kid was sleeping over at a friend's house.)

The first movie we suggested was The Sting (1973, directed by George Roy Hill).  Our ( Read more... )

I saw The Sting for the first time back in the summer, and I'm still stunned that I'd never made time for it before. It's the king of heist films (which are my favorites!)

Has she seen the original Ocean's Eleven? And The Italian Job? The remakes are pretty good, too.

I love caper films, too, Misty. I think she might have seen the Ocean's Eleven remake. But I doubt she's seen The Italian Job, which I loved.

John and I would definitely agree with you! Sharing our favorite movies with the kids is a great joy! Particularly when they end up liking them. John just showed the boys Ghostbusters, which I hear they had a great time with. (I am in China with my daughter.) It really is fun to share all these things with our children!

Also, I have a friend I've been trying to get to watch The Sting...I will mention that your daughter enjoyed it...that should help get across the idea it's not stodgy. ;-)

Thanks for the comment, Jagi. Hope you're having a great time in China! We still have a host of other films to show our older daughter. And then we get to start over and show them to the younger one! Fun stuff.

REAR WINDOW is one we were talking about the other night. One of my all-time favorites. I think my daughter would love it. Also NORTH BY NORTHWEST and THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH.
