Tired of tires

Jun 11, 2009 23:13

(10:59:30 PM) David: Yesterday, after I finished my last service call and had dinner, I discovered my tire was flat.
(10:59:48 PM) David: I was rather annoyed, because I would otherwise have gotten to my chorus rehearsal on time.
(11:00:05 PM) Laura: argh, that's frustrating
(11:00:07 PM) David: I called for roadside assistance, they put the spare on, and I went to rehearsal.
(11:00:34 PM) David: This morning, I went to Goodyear to get the tire fixed. They found a nail, yanked it out, and plugged the hole.
(11:01:02 PM) David: It took something like two hours, possibly more,
(11:01:10 PM) David: because they didn't get around to starting for a good while.
(11:01:37 PM) David: Then I went to my one and only service call of the day, which lasted a bit over an hour. When I was done, the tire was flat again.
(11:01:38 PM) Laura: yeah, that shouldn't really take all that long
(11:01:43 PM) Laura: oh man
(11:01:47 PM) Laura: so clearly they did a terrible job
(11:01:49 PM) David: Yeah.
(11:01:58 PM) David: Well, I had my doubts from the start.
(11:01:59 PM) Laura: maybe they patched it instead of plugging it
(11:02:11 PM) David: Their tech couldn't get the tire pressure low light to go off.
(11:02:15 PM) Laura: or maybe they just should have replaced it . . .
(11:02:44 PM) David: Anyway, I got roadside assistance out again, and they put the spare back on, and I went to NTB.
(11:03:00 PM) David: NTB got started fairly quickly, but it took them ages to find the leak.
(11:03:38 PM) David: My guess: the nail Goodyear pulled out was the cause of a very slow leak that's been going on for a few months.
(11:03:58 PM) David: And whatever NTB pulled out was what caused the immediate and more serious problem.
(11:05:09 PM) Laura: hahaha
(11:05:12 PM) Laura: that's pathetic
(11:05:44 PM) David: Yeah, but fairly understandable, I guess.
(11:06:18 PM) David: Since the nail was really obvious on the outside, and what NTB finally found was down inside the tread.
(11:06:48 PM) David: Still, it took way too long altogether.
