So last weekend I attended my very first Supernatural convention.
I've loved Supernatural since it's very conception. When it first came on TV I remember just shouting out "Holy Crap! It's Alec!". It also had this other guy, Paladicki or something like that. I'd never seen him before but was informed that he'd been a regular on Gilmore Girls, but since I hated that show, I'd never seen him on that (I've since gone back and watched every episode he was in).
I started off as a Dean girl. I've since started drifting closer to being a Sam girl, but Jared's crappy haircut keeps me at a bit of a distance. And now, I'm sorry to say, I'm kinda a Cas girl. It's the monotone voice and the bland but confused stare, gets me every time. But my decision is very easily swayed, whoever has the coolest line in an episode or whoever takes off their shirt has my undivided affections :P
So, yeah, background over, now time for the convention.
I went to the Vancouver Supernatural convention this yeah.
And now I feel a lot better about myself.
Now, I went with my friend who I met 1 year ago at a Steve Carlson concert that happened just after last years convention. We hadn't realized one was happening, but decided that we would go to the next one together. We saved, bought Silver tickets, booked a hotel, organized for other roommates, then packed ready for the Friday start.
We arrived and noticed one thing straight away. We are quite small.
Also, we feel not need to wear horns on our heads. Therefore, we feel no need to beat ourselves up.
And we change our clothes every day.
I met up with obnoxiousblonde. She scared me off the bat. A bear hug for someone you've just met is a little weird, but I got used to her. She's just normally crazy.
Her and Dickbutt.
And Bandaid Girl.
And my accent isn't that funny. Username aside.
Another thing I've noticed. I'm very tame when it comes to how much I spend. I internally justified my spending on a Jared and a Misha photo op. Still felt damn guilty afterwards on how much I spent. That was until I met the butt-load of Gold ticket and Silver ticket people who have multiples of every photo available. And those who have already attended a few conventions this year. I'm incredibly frugal in comparison (doesn't stop my family and friends making fun of me though).
So yeah. Convention was awesome.
I'm just thankful I'm not Pumba, or, God forbid, Becky.
