Wow, what a game. We almost saw history being made yesterday at Shea Stadium, but even though it didn't happen, we saw one helluva game.

Glavine retired the first 18 batters he faced; perfect through six innings. He started the seventh with a walk, but he still had a no-hitter going two outs into the eighth. That's when the first baseman, Kit Pellow, hit a double, destroying the opportunity for Glavine to be the only Mets pitcher to pitch a no-hitter. Still, we saw a masterful pitching performance, and Glavine was given more than one huge ovation for his work. He only threw something like 110 pitches, struck out eight batters, and went all nine innings.

On the offensive side of the scorecard, Kaz Matsui once again led off the home team inning with a home run in the first. It was all they needed, but they added three more over the course of the game, and Glavine even singled in a run, after they'd walked the bases full just to pitch to him. Heh heh heh.

We enjoyed ourselves so much yesterday. Lindsay definitely has her Mets Mojo back.

I hope your Sunday afternoon was a good one, too.
