Interestingly, I just finished a very good book called Moon Shot, by Alan Shepard and Deke Slayton about the Redstone, Gemini, and Apollo programs. Both Shepard and Slayton were astronauts and in charge of one of the astronaut offices at NASA. Shepard was one of the last men on the moon, Slayton was on the Apollo-Soyuz flight.
Recommended book. I had the ebook version that had embedded videos!
