Gothic Season

Oct 20, 2014 19:45

Forget the last post, as i was feeling a bit morbid at the time and hence overwhelmed by feelings of powerlessness. Then i decided to snap out of it, and thought to myself, that it is just another problem to overcome, among many.

I did find a couple of books that cheered me up no end, both from the Kent ambulance charity shop in Sittingbourne, one on philosophy, and the other a collection of Gothic novels. The latter seems to be most appropriate for this Gothic season and Halloween.

The three Gothic novels are  Horace Walpole "The Castle of Otranto", William Beckford "Vathek" and Mary Shelly with "Frankenstein".

The BBC are doing a Gothic series right now with programmes such as The Art Of Gothic and The Family That Built Gothic Britain. Some links here -
