Starting softly, with five items off the list.
1. Read a book - Jan
Partly 'cause I took time to savor it, partly 'cause it's over 1000 pages, but I finished A DANCE WITH DRAGONS.
13. Read a non-fiction
So many of this month's UL items stem from the Noir City festival - snagged THE GETAWAY CAR, a collection of articles & interviews by and with the late mystery writer Donald E. Westlake, early in the festi, and finished it before the fest was over.
43. Post at a site that isn't mine
Low bar to clear, but I convinced my friend & colleague Michael Guillen to get a bunch of us together halfway thru Noir City to talk about what we'd seen so far.
Our NoirCity halftime show is a fun little read, with capsules, I believe, of everything in the first half of the fest.
81. A movie by a new female filmmaker - Jan
A bit of a cheat, but Ana Lily Amirpour's dazzling & dark debut A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT was just stellar.
93. Something off the Rosenbaum 1000
The final movie at NoirCity, Leonard Kastle's THE HONEYMOON KILLERS, knocked a late-60s entry off
the Rosenbaum 1000. And
I got to write about it for the workblog, too.
