Foul Bachelor Frog; Alcove B3, Saturday Afternoon.

Jul 30, 2011 08:51

The move into the cabins had put Alexander into quite a brooding mood, one he couldn't quite shake by the time Saturday rolled around, either. It had nothing to do with the cabins themselves; the conditions of the cabins were far superior to what he'd been used to, and even the cold weather didn't bother him much. No, his maudlin disposition was ( Read more... )

While William was quite capable- and willing- to listen to Alexander's brooding musings, being a puppy while doing so made it somewhat more difficult when it came to actually replying. And so the letter- and Alexander's reaction to it- got an inqusitive "Rrr?" and a headtilting puppy. It was the best he could do, under the circumstances.

Though he was fully capable of vocalization himself, Alexander's first response was a very distracted, "Hmmm?" as he looked up and blinked at William, coming back to the world of Fandom. He realized how engrossed he'd been and blushed, just a little. "Oh. A letter from my sister."

He bit his lip slightly, wondering how to elaborate. "I...almost don't want to believe what it is that she says, but she informs me that, perhaps...someone in our court might actually know where the Land of the Green Isles may be...and that he's known all this time and has put up the facade that he'd never heard of such a place! Can you believe it? I am uncertain as to whether or not I feel incredibly upset and angry or absolutely overjoyed, William."

That was something of a quandry, wasn't it? William was apparently torn as well, offering a slight growl followed by an excited yip. He couldn't help it, Alexander's quest had intrigued him ever since he'd learned about it, and so he found himself quite invested in the potential for success.

The yip managed to get a smile out of Alexander; it had become easier to understand animals even without a special spell to do so, but this was exceptionally true of animals who were usually his roommate. "You're right," he said. "I suppose I am, overall, quite pleased by the information. I shall have to plan a trip home if I can, and get to the bottom of this mystery myself."

Well, as it happened, William had an opinion about that too: namely that if Alexander was going to investigate something, that perhaps he might-

"-need some assistance?"

Oh. Oh dear. That last thought had not expressed itself in a matter of yips and barks, because the speaker voicing that thought was no longer a puppy.

"Egads!"

Of course Alexander knew that, eventually, William would change back. At least, he certainly hoped that would be the case. But he'd gotten accoustomed to these little chats with his roommate responding in various yips and barks and growls and to have them replaced with words so suddenly was a bit startling.

Besides, any words coming out when you least expected them still startled Alexander, considering they could be followed by a swift death at the hands of a crazy wizard.

"William! You're back!"

Alexander was being very good, too, of keeping his eyes upwards, just in case William hadn't transformed back with his clothing. He didn't know whether or not he had, because he wasn't about to check.

Oh, if only he had been transformed back with clothes. It would save him from making a valiant attempt to spontaneously combust via blushing.

"That does- seem to be the case," he managed finally.

Alexander was now certain that not even a person endowed with the strongest constitution in the world could avoid at least a little peek, but, on the bright side, this now allowed Alexander the opportunity to reach over and discretely pass his cloak over to William. Thank the heavens for the colder weather, or else he would not have had such an easy option so quickly at hand!

"That is, er, um..." He cleared his throat a little. "Most excellent news, indeed. I was beginning to worry about the extended period of your untimely transformation, my friend."
