A piece of my NaNoWriMo thingy.

No, has nothing to do with Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler, just because of the name of 'Sebastian' o_O

"Sebastian," Alexandria's little voice broke his train of thought on today's necessary activity list. "Will you be here with us forever?"
"Oh? What brought on such a question?" He placed the tea cup on its plate, on the table. "I will be, for the rest of my life, of course. That is, until I am no longer needed, if I should out-live my usefulness."
"Oh... that sounds so... depressing..."
"I don't feel as such. It is the truth. I enjoy working for you, and your family. There is nothing depressing about it."
"But what if you die?"
This was turning into a heavy topic.
"Now what would cause me to die, hmm? Stop reading your fathers reports."
The little girl looked up quickly. She didn't know that he had known...
"You wont tell them about that, will you!?" There was pleading in her voice.
"....no, I suppose not. But I must tell you to cease and desist. When you are of the right age to be delving into this kind of business, then we will let you know... for now, do not waste your youth worrying about things you may not fully understand. It will become clear in time. Now is not that time."
"But I'm going to lead this company and fight aliens and sell things, some day, right?" She huffed, "I should know whats going on in it!"
"You only have eight years to live and learn. You will have over fifty to deal with the company. Please, miss, do not through your years away. I... we all want to see you grow to be happy, before taking on such heavy burdens of the De Landria group."
"..." Another huff... but no reply. Stubborn as always.
“In eight years, you will not have the time to sit here, with me, and have tea... would you prefer not to?”
He struck a cord he knew was a little harsh... but he wanted to make it absolutely clear that he wanted her to enjoy her freedom while she had it.
“No...” she looked down at her tea, defeated, looking back at the reflection wobbling inside it.
There was a pause, as he watched her, a moment. Gently, he put his tea cup down, and picked up the tea pot, offering to pour her more, across the small table. She obliged his offer, holding her cup out to receive it.
“Do not fret. You still have eight years to go,” he smiled at her, “that’s plenty of time.”
“You’ll be an old man, by then!”
“I will not! He made a face at her laugh, “I will only be twenty-four!”
“But that’s old! You’ll start looking like-”
“No, don’t say it!” Sebastian nearly gasped in true terror to think he would look like their current head butler... the old man with hunched back, scruffy brows, white, balding hair, hunching at the back, and protruding nose.

More, under cut

“But you will!” She continued to laugh more, seeing as how it got to the young teenage butler.
“Nonsense! Utter nonsense!” Sebastian huffed, “And you will be eighteen...!” He realized, too late, that that was invalid. Eighteen was still the picture of youth.
“But that’s still young! I’ll be like a young singer! Or a movie star!”
He sighed in defeat. He was still young himself, and couldn’t yet see passed the illusion that over twenty-one was not really considered old...
“Fine, fine...” A change of topic to divert any victory dances. “Do you plan to sing and act?”
“Well, maaaybe on the side. You know, like those super heroes that work their jobs AND save the world! I’ll be a singer... or maybe an actress!”
“You know, those shows in America - those Broadway shows - they do both.”
“I’ll be a Broadway star!”
“I’m sure.”
“Whats that supposed to mean!?”
“Oh, nothing.” He grinned behind his tea cup, hiding it with a sip. Unfortunatly, despite his normal proper posture and poise, he was rather obvious just then.He thought himself clever to get revenge on her calling him old... or rather, old in the future.
“No really, what do you mean by that!?” Alexandria huffed and set her cup down hastily with a light ‘clack’.
“Nothing, I assure you. I am more than sure that you are capable of singing and dancing at the same time.” Another small snicker behind a fake sip of tea.
“Your making fun of me, Sebastian!”
He couldn’t help it, just then... the butler in black, white and grey let out a laugh, though holding his tea cup carefully. “Forgive me, Miss Alexandria!” he choked between laughs, “I don’t mean to!”
“Hmmph! Well then I’ll just have to tell papa about your wasting time on the waterfall painting in the grand hall! Adjusting it this way and that for ten or maybe twenty minutes or more!”
“Wh-wha? Not at all! It wasn’t that long! And it’s the canvas! It must be painted on an angle!”
“Hah! I’m gong to tell papa!” She laughed, feeling avenged.
“Well, then I’ll tell him you were wasting time watching me straighten up instead of your homework!”
“Hmph!”
“Hmph, indeed!”
They both quickly took up their tea cups again and looked away sheepishly. Neither won - they were at a stalemate.
After a few moments, when the tea was finished, Sebastian stood to collect the tea cups and teapot, placing them on the wheeled serving table he used to bring it out on. With a small clap of his gloves, a maid came from the house, through the glass doors, and took the cart away.
“Alright then. Lets take a walk and I’ll quiz you on what you’ve learned this week, shall we?”
“I want to ride piggy-back!”
“...don’t you think that is inappro-”
“You still laughed of your master’s daughter!” Oh boy. That was some heavy ammo. Sebastian could do nothing but sigh and give in. He used to give her piggy back rides when she were younger, and sleepy from studying.
“Alright, alright...”
He approached and turned, as she used her chair as a step stool, letting her wrap her arms around his neck and caught her legs with his hands.
“Alright, now you must answer all of these questions right. If you miss three, then the piggy-back ride is over.”
“Alright! I can do this!”

Walking deeper into the garden, Sebastian asked her questions - mathematics, geography, history, spelling, literature... he mixed them up. She missed only one question, but he could hear her getting sleepier as time went. She always fell asleep on his back like this. He didn’t understand how someone could, perched in a precarious way like this...

Alexandria always felt safe with Sebastian, even when he was stiff, or poking fun at her, or trying to cram algebra into her head. It was the feeling of safety, familiarity, and the bond they had that made her fall asleep on his back, every time. He was always warm and strong and gentle. She didn’t have to worry about a thing... everything was alright, when Sebastian was around.

Two years later would put that to the test. Two years later would be everything the family feared would happen. Two years later, everything crashed and destroyed paradise.
