I have no idea why I felt like posting something in here, but I did. So here it goes:
Today was weird. As I have been doing, slept in the tent last night in the backyard. I love that. I woke up to the sound of rain falling. First time it has rained in a couple of weeks. I hung out this afternoon and played some poker. There were major thunderstorms going on late this afternoon. We had 1/2 an inch of rain in a couple hours after only having .16 inches of rain the entire month of July. We had a ballgame tonight so I headed to work at about 4PM figuring the traffice was going to be really bad. And it was! I got there just at the time I had to be there...5:15PM. I walked into the ballpark and was immediately told by Diana, this old biddy biatch that I can't stand that the game had been cancelled. I figured she knew what was up, but I thought I would see what was going on. Well, I got to the other side of the stadium and there was the owner of the Aquasox, Mark, sweeping water. He told me that the power had been knocked out and that the flash rainstorm had flooded the concessions and done a bunch of damage. He said that we were going to make up the game with a doubleheader the next day, and to just be at work an hour early because there were going to be 2 7-inning games. I felt bad that the owner was busting his ass and didn't seem to have a bunch of help, so I offered my services. The power was still out so I couldn't even punch in, but I figured that I would volunteer. It ended up being pretty brutal. The drainage and sewage had been so backed up that it blew a manhole cover off and spilled raw sewage all over. I spent 3 hours cleaning. It didn't smell very good..actually downright nasty. But someone had to do the stuff. The only other people working were the main staff and the interns. The few day of game staffers that hadn't gotten the word about the game being cancelled all pretty much didn't want to work and went home. So I felt good that I dug in and did the deal.
I finally got home about the time it started to get dark and went back to a combination of poker and watching the Big Brother 5 live internet feeds. I totally love Big Brother..always have since it started. As a student of human behavior, it is an amazing study in interactive pathology. This year is no different. I won't launch into some huge diatribe about it, because my opinion of the situation in the house is fleeting and could be different tomorrow, but I am enjoying it as always.
That is my big exclamation of present activity. I still don't know why I posted it, strange day! ;)
Peace and out...
