Photography musings and chatter.

My new flashgun arrived yesterday, which meant that I got home and pulled out all the bits and pieces I’ve got that are flash related. keris had to put up with lots and lots of pictures being taken whilst she sat around reading. I think that it is starting to make at least a little sense.

Had my first incidence of battery death on one of the cheap batteries for the 30D. You might see this as a good argument for the more expensive official batteries, but I see it as lasting about 4 years, and that was with pretty heavy use, alternating it with one other “official” battery. And it was a tenner, instead of 50 quid.

I’ve also had battery fun with some of my other batteries. Not looked at my flashguns in a while, and now I need to get all the battery sets for them up and going. 1x 4-battery AA charger, with a 17 hour trickle charge. 24 batteries in total. Can you see the problem. There is a lot of battery charging in my near future I forsee much changing around of batteries and chargers. The fiddling with AA ones are due to the rekindled interest in flashguns. I think that in future I’ll get batteries in sets of 4, and try to make sure that they are of different brands to what I already own, so I can easily tell sets of batteries apart.

I’ve got a shoot tomorrow which should let me do a little playing with the new toys, and some ideas that I’ve had. I’ll see how that all goes. I’ve got some intention to arrange a pile more shoots in the near future, as I need to keep my mind on fun things in the evening. I’m not so good at switching off from work lately.

Of course, what is quite important for getting things moving with the photo-backlog is to finally get my computer working again and all the photo stuff I use reinstalled. I’ll try to get that done this weekend as well.
