A poem for a good friend...

I'm not sure if some of you know or not, but on June 18th we had to put my dog of 13 years down because she had cancer. My mom wrote a poem about her, dedicated to her, that was read to her before she went under. I recently found it, and wanted to post it up:)

Thank you Poppy for your love
you have loved us for 13 years
we met you when you were the size of your head
you taught us to say what we mean and mean what we say
you taught us co-operation, and unity
you are every bit "doggie-peoples"
you taught us patience
you taught us that firmness and kindness are far better than anger
you have made us laugh
you have made us cry
you have been there for each of us to listen to our pain and troubles and kiss away our tears with your licky tongue
lively lady with bounce in your walk, white flag tail that you could never catch waving high
a brave fierce protector of all you loved
the fun police patroling for all whom cross the line
particularly the cats
so intelligent, so eager to learn and to please
its time now to tuck in for good, girl
you are a good girl and we love you very much Poppy
sweet dreams and give Christina a licky kiss from us
who could have known how much love we would share
we love you
we really love you.

wow...can my entries lately be any more depressing?..geesh...yeah, i need to post some more happy uplifting entries soon...shoot..LOL see you around...~D
