Got my BoJo working ...

So, drinking on the tube is supposedly illegal now.

Except it's not. At least until next year or so when the bylaw stuff kicks in.

So currently it's just a 'conditions of carriage' thing.

And last Friday I saw a couple of kids drinking 1L bottles  of San Miguel on the Bakerloo line - now one was a bit rock/metal/emo looking and the other was a wee bit hoodie. My initial outrage (no, really, I do tend to think that people should obey 'the law') was tempered in that they might be from out of town, or the country.

But in the end they turned out to be locals and were helping a fellow passenger to find her station and weren't horribly pissed or annoying anyone but were awfully polite and helpful and were probably just on their way to a gig or something so wanted to drink something which was not horrifically overpriced. I've been there before.

So who is going to police these infractions? Will anyone stand up for me when a perp is loudly playing a radio next to me against the conditions of carriage? No fucking chance.

Not to even mention that people are *already* pissed before they start causing trouble on TFL - annoying other passengers. Maybe find a way to enforce your CoCs before arbitrarily adding to them?
Security god Bruce Schnier has the concept of "security theater". This is political theater.

At least Ken used to ride the tube. Not riding red traffic lights like Boris.

Gah. *disclaimer: thursday night is pub night*

bojo, ken, boris, theatre
