Back to my usual level of unusual...

...since "back to normal" implies a claim which I am not certain has ever applied.

My major nasty knocked-me-on-my-butt illness turned out not to be any sort of flu after all, but a rather intense sinus infection. In any case, it was still the sickest I'd been in years. Ugh.

I was pretty much incapacitated by fever and chills last Wednesday evening, and was only minimally functional Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Had a good and lucid Sunday morning, followed by a mild relapse of symptoms Sunday afternoon. By Monday (Memorial Day) I felt almost-but-not-quite better: milder, far more tolerable forms of the same symptoms, sort of a 'parting gift' from the infection, one supposes.

As of today (Tuesday) I still have a lingering cough, and the sides of my tongue are weirdly raw (a side effect of taking the Z-Pak antibiotic, I suspect), but now I can breathe again and am no longer feverish nor particularly headachey. I still have notable residual joint pain, especially in my hips, as well as some generalized body aches and fatigue, but those are minor compared to what I was putting up with over the weekend. I should be back to my usual self in another day or two.

I was tempted to hit the gym again yesterday, but since I was still having mild dizzy spells, thought I should give my body another couple of days to recover fully. At this point I plan to resume my strength training starting Wednesday. The cardio I think will wait until next week.

exercise, workout, health, flu
