My friend, sister-in-arms, and fellow Bujold fan desert_vixen became a Mom this morning. All of you that know her (and many of you who don't) need to go fill up her LJ with comments, like you did mine when Tony was born. Her husband promises that pictures will be forthcoming.
And speaking of parenthood, here's a rather stunning story of childhood heroism. One of those situations where it looks like a couple different events came together all at once, causing a ten year old girl to lose her left arm. Stories of heroism always choke me up just a bit, but this one hit closer to home, with the little kids stepping up angle.
