it's all messed up but we'll survive

So Starshaped is actually coming out on DVD in a few days. It's surreal to think about that. On one hand, it's a valuable tool and a cute piece of merchandise. Not all bands can brag about having so much documentation of their early years. These days we have new fangled gadgets like DVD camcorders and all of that fun stuff, but back in the day (like the early `90s) we were lucky to be able to afford this process at all. Should I take this as an indication that there was actually some faith behind our group? I don't know if I'd go that far.
Just like Star Wars, Starshaped contains a fine balance between good and evil. On the good side of the spectrum, it's nice to look back on our old antics. Sometimes I get nostalgic for that old stupidity, the blind faith in our ability and our obviously impending blockbuster audiences. We probably also had a bit more charisma back when we were so close and friendly and fresh and infertile. On the flip side, we were smoking enough to put chimneys to shame and drinking enough to act like sinks. I know the other guys aren't so bothered by it (except for maybe Graham), but I cringe at some of my old behaviour. If you watch closely enough, you'll see me lurking in my bad moods and my drunken hazes. Those weren't good years for me, but they've taught me their lessons. If I have to look my past dead in the eye sometimes and say that I'm better than that, so be it.
Hey, I have nothing to complain about. Jamie gives me a friendship band in it, so we became official friends then. Isn't that absolutely touching? I certainly think so.
