$2.9 Trillion Dollars

Feb 05, 2007 16:19

Well, let's just say three.

Three trillion dollars. That's how much Bush is spending on the US military, mainly to try and control Iraq.

If we were to split that money amongst every human on the planet, that'd be about $500 each. Not a lot for most people reading this, but for a huge portion of the world's population, that'd be several year's worth of 'salaries'.

Now, if we were to take the privileged out of the equation, that'd be quite a lot more for each person in need.

Now, what if that three trillion were spent solving world problems. How many do you think we could wipe out practically over night?

If that were spent on getting water to people, do we honestly think there'd be a single person without clean drinking water? Or food? I'm sure this could provide both food and water for those who need it. Shelter as well. Perhaps some clothing, and programs to help enable people to live where they are..

This is worldwide. Perhaps Americans want to be selfish..even so, three trillion dollars would no doubt get every homeless person off the street with a full belly and more positive outlook on life. Schools could be wonderful places to be, and all could be cared for with health care.

With three trillion dollars, the US could have become a model citizen of the world, demonstrating what freedom and democracy is really about. But no, selfish George Bush is busy killing people in another country, supposedly giving them the democracy he's draining away from the US.

Sad stuff, that.
