Charity work in Vancouver - any fellow atheists interested?

Hey, all. Or, more particularly, all in and around Vancouver (of which I know there are a few).

A few years ago, I got roped into voulenteering at a homeless shelter up in Vancouver; a program called "Out of the Cold." It was run out of the Grandview Calvary Baptist Church, and this was, for certain (and I think obvious) reasons a little ( Read more... )

What exactly do you do at this charity and exactly what hours do you attend it, Dave? I might be interested in lending my assitance.

Well, it's a soup kitchen/shelter, basically. Food is prepared and served en masse to homeless folks who show up; there's a dining area for them and all. Then, later at night, mattresses and blankets are pulled out of storage and they're given a safe and relatively warm place to sleep ( ... )
