Couture vs. Lesnar in November?

Dammit, I'm gonna have to get it.

if i had to, i'd bet on lesnar. if i didn't have to, i wouldn't, because couture has pulled off bigger upsets before.

but, damn; is that man ever going to stay retired?

edit: just to say... i'd like to see lesnar win, because i want to see him take on mir (who i think is going to win against noguira).

One of the intrigues in the fight is that for every reason you can give why Brock will definitely win, there's a reason why Randy will definitely win and vice versa.

Right now, my head says Brock, but, as always, I want Randy to win. And since I thought Sylvia and Gonzaga were both going to eat Randy alive, I'm tempted to think that somehow, Couture will pull it off. But there's no reason at all to think that Brock can't demolish Randy. The one thing Randy isn't good at is being on his back, and Brock can definitely take him down.

So, in the end, UFC gets my money.

I tend to think that Nogueira is going to beat Mir though. Mir's strength is submissions, and I don't see Big Nog being tapped out.

wooo, how can you not love the natural? he helped put mma on the map. while he's definitely got a crapload more experience, brock has the strength and the much better g and p game. it's definitely going to be interesting to see what direction that fight takes.

still, going to bow to you on this one, because i tend to pay more attention to the welterweight - light heavyweight classes.

i'm just itching for a lesner/mir battle, because they're both strong in submissions. i've seen entirely too many stand up fights lately!

Well, Mir submitted Brock in his first UFC fight. However, that was mostly due to a really crappy referee call. Herb Dean saved Mir and gave him the fight. I am guessing that, on the second go around (sooner or later, he will fight Mir, I'm sure of it), there'll be a much different result.

I'd give Brock the advantage on the ground. But Couture fought Gabriel Gonzaga and kept him standing, and TKO'd him. So its not a lock that it'll go to the ground.

Did you see the Jason MacDonald/Demian Maia fight? That was some serious jiu jitsu.

yes! man, that was awesome. i went in thinking maia would take it, especially after his win over ryan jenson (great fight). but, macdonald had just come off of a tko over doerksen, who was supposed to win that bout.

a lot of people think brazilian jiu jitsu fighters are supposed to have a tougher time in the octagon with the all-around boys, but i don't know who they're watching. can we say any gracie, ftw? or georges st. pierre (who happens to be one of my favorites)?

When MacDonald got out of the triangle, I just about screamed. That was awesome. I sorta knew Maia was going to get it because he is just insane on the ground.

And I think someone who is a straight BJJ guy has the same problem someone who is a straight stand up guy has. Once they are out of their element, they are vulnerable. GSP and Anderson Silva are so well rounded they are dangerous anywhere. But if you were to put a straight BJJ guy against say, Chuck Lidell, who is virtually impossible to take down, they would have serious problems.

so true. but, liddell is like a frickin mac truck. anyone, even an all-around, has a time with him.

Well, Rampage is Rampage.

I was so upset at the Griffen fight. As much as I like Forrest, I was so mad that my man Rampage lost.

well, forrest is my kind of character, so i like him. he's my kind of fighter, too. he might not have the strength or the ground work as some other big names, but he could wear the energizer bunny down. that's how i used to win when i was competing, so i understand how he operates. it's just plan fun for me to watch him, even when he looks like he's taking a royal thrashing, because i know he's already thinking about the next round.

Oh I love Forrest. It was awesome to watch him kick Shogun's ass.

The Rampage/Forrest fight was one of those where I like both guys so I am not sure who to root for. (I had similar feelings about GSP/Fitch)

But it was following Rampage that really got me into MMA, so he's my perennial favorite.
