Tonight after 5 years, 105 episodes, and god knows how many different wigs, Alias comes to a close.
It's a somewhat sad night for me, knowing that my favorite show won't be coming back in the Fall. I haven't missed a single episode, and I still remember back to September 30, 2001 when it premiered. Just a note...I looked up that date on a website...I didn't actually remember it.
After seeing the original preview for the show back in Toronto one summer, I thought it would be a hit. The show was always critically acclaimed, and had a loyal fan base, but it never really grabbed the ratings numbers it should have. Any number of reasons could be blamed on the show, but it's main downfall was probably the constantly twisting plot lines, and huge back story. Sometimes, to really understand what was going on, or figure out plot twists you had to really be devoted to the show. Which, for some people is alot to ask.
I did manage to rope my Aunt into watching the show, and in recent weeks...Will. Two weeks ago, we were watching a past show on DVD and he said to me..."ahh...i couldn't watch this every week, it stresses me out to much." I laughed and knew then that was probably exactly what other people were thinking.
As most know...I am the devoted fan, some even say obsessed. I have a couple of the novels, which chronicle Sydney's back story, or other adventures between episodes; the official guide, which recaps every episode from 1-4, and all the gadgets; every issue of the official magazine; and every season on DVD. Sure you can call me obsessed, but every show on tv has it's fans: Star Trek, CSI, Veronica Mars, Dawson's Creek. I guess thats what good tv, which everyone has their own definition for, does to everyone.
I'm pumped about the finale, they have said it will wrap up all the plot lines and mysteries about the show...I can't wait!!
If anyone is interested in watching it, it starts at 10:30 on ABC and runs for 2 hours.
