Review: The Day After Tomorrow

As you might imagine its a little weak on story but effectswise its very impressive (with the exception of some very dodgy cgi wolves). The basic premise is fairly simple - years of abuse has lead to massive climatic change and the fecal matter has well and truely impacted upon the rotating circulatory device and most of the northern hemisphere is basically screwed :)

The cast is a walking cliche - but the acting is much better than you might expect of a film of this type - Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ian Holm all do a great job in their roles (Am I alone in thinking Dennis Quaid would have made a great Han Solo? :) ).

Basically if nothing else we get to see several American cities getting absolutely *pounded* on - LA gets torn apart by tornados and New York gets its feet wet - so what can possibly be wrong with that?

I really enjoyed it, although it gets a bit preachy at the end - its the best of the big summer films I've seen so far by a long way. Of course I predict that to change once I see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkeban next week :)

In other news I've recently discovered the aceness that is 'Alias' and am just finishing off the first series - I've heard it gets a bit silly later on, but so far its absolutely fantastic.

In more other news (check the grammar there - masterful or what :) ) Its the LAN in a couple of weeks, and I'm busily getting warmed up - I fully intend to kick ass this time - fourth place was just embarrasing :)
