This bright day is the World

So today is a groovy day. I'm in a cosmic mood, and those usually go well for a few hours...feeling very connected and positive towards everything. sort of manic-y in it's nature I guess, and I may come back down off my high when I run out of hot sauce packets at lunch or something equally retarded. But I'm eating some kind of breakfast cassarole thing that E's mom made, tastes like a breakfast burrito (fuckin' awesome), so that's coming along for me. ANNNNNNND...I pulled down the Mopey White Board of Doom and replaced it with the Luminous White Board of Epic Wonder. I will explain.

A couple of years ago, when  the good wizard Billy of The West was out here staying with us, he worked at Kinko's. I mentioned one morning, ever-so-offhandedly, that I should go in one day and get him to laminate me some big sheets of white card stock that I could hang up and use over and over for writing out ideas and notes. Sort of like easy-to-move white boards. He came home that night with three of them, and my joy knew no bounds.
Fast forward (whoa, too fast...) to a few years later, and I finally (FINALLY!) hang one up and begin jotting down one-word notes in columns, just trying to make a list of things I like thinking about, the beginnings of story themes and ideas. Get the gears moving, right? Only things get a little sideways, and I notice the themes in my list becoming more and more...we'll say...splenetic.
It was not a shiny time.
So that board stayed up for a few months, while I stroked my chin in deep consternation, wondering where it all went screwey. No answer availed itself to me, and after three months of ponderous dread, I took the Board of Doom down, (clearly, it had abandoned it's purpose and gone all Lord of The Flies savage on me) and have replaced it with the aforemention Luminous model. It's also bigger, this new one, which I didn't know until I tried to hang it. That was funny. Probably only to me, though.
The new one is pristine, and will not be tainted by the harsh cruelty of a sharpee. Rather, I'll be using it to hang index cards on, so I can block out the new graphic novel I've been working out. I'm feeling pretty good about it. Look! A picture!

See? Pretty.
Also, because I'm cooler than you in this one particular way, a Dr. Who pinball!

The whiteboard and the pinball sit directly across from each other in my office, seperated only by love.
David.
