of all the monuments
This past weekend, 
klukey and I took a spontaneous trip down to Virginia and DC to see the cherry blossoms. It was our first trip to the capital and the adventure definitely had more to do with the flowers than the patriotism, but it was interesting to see so many memorials and significant sites. As we walked around the tidal basin, K asked me if I wanted to take a picture of the Washington Monument and I said that no, there was something about that particular monument (looking phallic and resembling weaponry) that made it unappealing as far as photos were concerned. A few moments later, a woman asked me to take a picture of her with said monument in the backdrop. After I snapped the pic with her disposable Kodak, she said "do you want one of the two of you?" we looked at each other and just said "uh..sure, thanks." Oddly enough, it's probably the best pic from the whole weekend. It figures.
