On Feminism
An open letter to one half of the world's population:
If you have done any of the following things, you are a feminist.
Don't be ashamed of the label. You are not required to hate men or get upset if they open doors for you. You can still wear makeup and shave your legs. You can even be a stay-at-home mom, if that is what you want to do. The point of feminism is that you are free to choose your own fate and your value as a person is not determined by whether you've married or had children, but rather by the quality of your character. You are free to define who you are, not letting others decide that for you.
If you are male and agree a woman should have these rights, you also are a feminist.
There are many different types of feminism, and chances are good you fit one of these schools of thought. Find out what kind of feminist you are. Be proud!

- Practiced birth control
- Expected to be paid equally to your male peers
- Got upset when hearing about things like honor killings or female circumcision
