So my .sig line was the same through the Bush administration, and would come as no surprise to anyone who knows me:
To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile but is morally treasonable to the American public."
--President Theodore Roosevelt in the Kansas City Star, 149, May 7, 1918
When Obama became President, I thought I should leave it up for a while, because I certainly don't think he's beyond criticism either. However, ever since about 2007 I've been pondering a new .sig. This one may be it, but I'm soliciting feedback.
"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."
-- Marcus Aurelius
