Summary: Booth arrives in DauphinMare and is completely thrown for a loop. He manages to convince himself that it is some kind of government experiment of some sort and that they were in need of his sniper skills. He explains away the funky mutants and the strange looking people and displays of powers that he sees, and avoids checking in because he doesn't want to deal with it just yet.
Corey comes to meet with Booth, fresh out of a stint in the MedLab where she's been working on healing injuries all day. She and Booth have a discussion, and Corey and Libby - who know each other from their worlds - have a bit of fun poking at Booth and planting ideas in his head. He and Corey end up clicking pretty well and return to her room where they had sex. Oh no wait. I don't have to cross that out. That really happened.
He was 99.9% positive he was dreaming.
...Okay. Maybe it was closer to 95%.
...It was at least 80%. He was at least 80% certain that this was a dream.
...Or maybe he was going to stop trying to assign statistics to it. Because every moment he spent here was another moment closer to thinking that maybe it wasn't a dream. And maybe he really had been pulled into some sort of government facility where they were testing out some sort of... well he wasn't really sure but it was some kind of people study, he thought. Or... maybe weird drugs. He thought there were some people who just looked... weird.
Because... bubble? War between worlds? Had to be a cover. Or a joke. It had to be. Clearly, he had been drugged and brought here against his will to be studied along with these other... freaks.
...Huh. Maybe he was some kind of... base... what did they call it? Control group. He was part of the control group. The others here were all freaks and he was the normal person so they'd have someone to compare the freaks to.
He wiggled a bit with satisfaction at that explanation, big grin on his face, and munched on a blueberry muffin, sipping a coffee (it was all he'd had the guts to take when he'd been wandering through the cafeteria line). He'd been trying to come up with a reason for being here all evening, and was glad he'd found one on his own.
He didn't need to have this stuff explained to him. He could be clever about it.
He was gazing around the cafeteria in what he hoped was an inconspicuous way, trying to make it seem as if he knew exactly what he was doing here, and didn't need anything explained to him at all. Yep. He totally got it and was capable of figuring it out on his own. He'd figured out that he was part of the control group for this experiment, hadn't he?
Yep. All under control.
