Day Thirteen - The difference between "mostly dead" and "all the way dead"

Nov 23, 2008 12:17

Who: Jan, Emmett
When: Later afternoon
Where: Cafeteria
Rating: PG

Status: Closed, completed
Summary: Jan manages to limp her way into the cafeteria, where she selects some easy-to-swallow foods before slumping at a table. A rather down Emmett joins her, and they talk for a bit about the situation. Emmett admits to his loss of strength, and Jan points out she's gotten ill. He suggests visiting a healer, which prompts Jan to explain that Laurel occasionally does odd and slightly devastating things with her magic.

In an uncharacteristic moment, Emmett offers to help her to the town hall, but she declines out of consideration for his senses - she doesn't want to make him endure her dragon-smell the whole time. Before she limps off, she promises to update him if she hears anything useful.

Jan had made it to her own room long enough to shower and change into warm, comfortable clothing. She'd shuffled her way past the lounge, leaning occasionally against a wall for support. She was wearing slippers, and her hair was an unbound tangle around her face, but she didn't really have it in her to care too much.

She'd gotten something to eat - simple, non-stomach-threatening stuff - and carried her tray to a table. She slumped over it, wincing a little in pain before she started to attempt to eat.

Afterwards, she had every intention of crossing the great divide to the Town Hall to see if she could help her mom - or if Laurel could help her.
