The Sixth eased slowly out of the portal, inhaling deeply. The world was covered in snow, and he frowned faintly. Would they have a winter bubble? it didn't seem overly likely, which meant ...

So his sib was here as well. His lips pulled into a thin line briefly. She could be trouble. Well, she could, but it wasn't likely she would be. Her mind, after all, was always wide open to whatever horrors one might want to visit upon it.

Their best efforts hadn't granted her the ability to shield her mind ... and Damion supposed he was glad for that, now.

Slipping his sword from the sheath on his back, Damioni looked around curiously once more. Well, magic traveled, didn't it? Inhaling, he pulled his power around him, then thrust it into the blade, which he then plunged into the snow, into the sand. He heard a creak and a crack, though not with his ears. It was ... internal. It was the sound of Chaos creeping into the very foundations of DauphinMare.

It might not last long; the rules were funny here. It might last a few hours, or a few days ... but while it did last, they'd be so much easier to break.

He wanted to hear them scream. All of them.

Keen ears caught the sound of slippered shoes crunching through snow, and the ragged sniffling of an overly emotional girl. Dark eyes turned toward the sound, and in the bright light of the dual moons, she was easy enough to pick out. He pulled his blade slowly from the snow and sand it was embedded in, and he watched her curiously.

The question though...take her as a prisoner, perhaps to ransom her back, or kill her where she stood as a warning?

Damion thought he felt like killing tonight. Smiling coldly, he started forward slowly. As focused as he was on the girl, he didn't see the white dog that blended so well with the snow.

Lily glanced up in alarm as she heard something ... sliding. Ice's warning ran through her mind, and she hissed in surprise as she slipped her wand out of her dress.

She could have waited. She could have asked questions. But Lily was learning that strangers near the portals weren't good things to hesitate around. So she flourished her wand, pointing the business end at the shadowy figure. "Stupefy!" she exclaimed before she turned to run.

She heard a surprised grunt before she felt the searing heat striking diagonally across her back, from her right shoulder toward her left hip. She stumbled and fell, barking her knees against the cold crust of snow and tearing her palms on the same.

Her wand clattered away and she cried out as she stumbled after it, scrambling on the slick snow. Tears bit hotly at her eyes before her fingers curled around the familiar wood of her wand, and she turned, pointing the wand behind her.

She was mostly only aware of a white blur before she heard-sensed-felt some sort of sound vibration. It sounded like a bark, but she heard leaves rustling on the trees, and the surprised grunt of the man with the sword. She heard a second bark as she managed to pull blooded palms under her, pushing at the snow and leaving a pair of red streaks in her wake.

Lily felt alternately cold and hot. Icy snow pressed through the thin fabric of her dress and chilled her bare legs, but the cut on her back and the blood that both seemed to ooze and gush out of her were subtle fire burning her. She struggled to get to her feet, and she was aware of Isabel, softly whining.

"Why is it always you and me?" Lily asked semi-rhetorically as she tried to get her feet under her.

But she couldn't.

She could feel her vision going fuzzy around the edges, and the world was starting to lose color.

Bel saw that Lily couldn't get up, but Bel herself couldn't help her. Instead, she spun and raced back toward the Inne to find help.
