He'd kind of just gone for a walk and his feet had carried him here. A familiar face seemed a nice enough sight and he offered Rogue a soft smile.

"Hey," he ventured quietly, "Hiding out?"

He hadn't gone to the contest the night before, though he'd heard some rumours. Still, if she didn't bring it up, he wouldn't either.

She laughed quietly after getting over her initial startled reaction, and she shook her head slightly. "Not .. hiding," she said. "Just...walkin' around where people aren't likely to run across me."

A faint flush colored her cheeks before she shrugged. She wondered if he'd been in the crowd, then she decided she didn't want to know. It was bad enough that she knew Logan had been there.

"Isn't that kind of the same thing as hiding?" he pointed out with a light chuckle as he settled beside her, "But I guess you're entitled to that, right?"

It was a decently full bubble, after all. Alone time was pretty scarce in public areas.

"No, hidin' would be if I was somewhere that no one could find me at all. Like, if I stayed locked up in my room or somethin'." But then, there were some people that she simply couldn't hide from, regardless - wherever she'd gone, she knew Logan would have been able to track her down.

And part of her had half-hoped he would, but maybe he was being considerate and letting her hide.

"So," she ventured bravely. "Were ... did you and John go watch ..." she gestured vaguely with one gloved hand. "Last night?"

He shook his head, smiling apologetically.

"Didn't go," he replied, "Kind of figured it'd be better for John to stay in."

And really, he hadn't been inclined to argue. Even with the interest that was girls in wet t-shirts. He couldn't say he was entirely immune to that, after all.

"Ah," she said. "Right," she agreed. Because that would have been bad, for John to have been harassed by the guy from the other side. Or abducted again. Or ... something.

She thought about pointing out he could've gone without John, but gosh, how likely would that have been?

"How's ... how's he settlin' in?" she asked curiously before she leaned back against a tree.

"All right, I guess," he ventured, "You know John; he keeps a lot of stuff in."

For instance, if he were John? He'd be scared shitless. But he wasn't John, so he couldn't really make that call.

"How about you?" he ventured, "How are you taking all this?"

She shrugged. "All right. 'cept I don't know what kind of help I'm really gonna be against the other side. I mean ... unless I get up real close to 'em or something, you know?"

But maybe she wasn't here to fight. Maybe she was here as someone's catalyst. Whose though? Bobby's? John's? Logan's? Shrugging to her thoughts, she glanced over at Bobby.

"Guess we'll see though."

"I guess," he agreed, "But you wouldn't be here if you weren't needed, right?"

He frowned a little, though; he couldn't think of another way she could be helpful either. But maybe he wasn't seeing the whole picture.

"Logan's here too, isn't he?" he ventured. He thought he'd seen the man at the contest, but maybe he'd seen wrong.

Rogue flushed slightly at the mention of Logan. "Oh, he's around somewhere, I s'pose," she agreed nonchalantly.

Well, she thought it was nonchalant. Her fluttering hand and fingers pushing her hair back behind her ears might have made a liar of her pretend tone.

"I ... haven't seen him since ... well, last night." She flushed and shook her head. "Not ... I mean, he was out watchin', last night. The other girls."

The tips of Bobby's ears turned red at the suggestion that she might have spent time with Logan after the show. He nodded, wishing she'd stop explaining.

"Right," he agreed, "So ... you're doing well then, both of you?"

Why was he still asking about this again? Maybe he just wanted to make both of them as uncomfortable as possible or something.

"I don't ..." she trailed off and fidgeted a little. "I guess he's doin' all right. I don't really ... we don't sit around and gab over milkshakes or anythin' like that. He's still Logan," she pointed out. "Even if he is here."

Rogue glanced away, rubbing her gloved hands against her arms. "I'm doin' all right though. I mean, as all right as I can be, all things considered."

"Well that's good," he offered, "That you're doing all right with all of this. I don't ... I don't think it's for everybody, you know?"

He wondered how much he himself had invested in this, but then he supposed it might be more than the average person. After all, he'd died once, had he not? Maybe that gave him a stronger link or ... something. He frowned slightly.

Rogue really wasn't sure it was for her, to be perfectly frank, but she was here and the least she could do was stick it out as long as Logan did.

She was highly disinclined to leave while he was here. They'd spent enough time leaving each other, hadn't they? Even if they weren't now nor would they ever be more than friends ... she harbored a loyalty to him.

"Yeah," she agreed. "I mean, I heard about a few people that went back to where they were from..." she shrugged. "Not me. I'll stick it out."

"That's good," he agreed, "Not that people took off, but ... you know, that you're staying. I think you should."

He smiled kindly to her, and while he realized rather belatedly that he had just told her she should stay to participate in a war where she might be killed, he hadn't had any ill intent so far as that went. He'd just been genuinely pleased to hear she'd stay.

"I'll stay as well," he offered, "Not sure why, but ... I figure why not."

After all, he'd died once. What else could happen?

Rogue had to grin a little. "Think I should stay," she repeated before she shook her head. "Guess I'll figure out why they called me," she murmured and shrugged lightly before shifting against the tree slightly.

"And at least you're useful," she pointed out. "I mean, me..." shoulders rose and fell in a shrug. "Well, I'm not any good from a distance."

She ran her hands over her rear before she shrugged her shoulders lightly. She thought about bringing up John, and opted not. She didn't think she really wanted to know.
