Summary: River wakes Mal and Jaime up a bit earlier than they'd like to ask for permission for Kyle to come back with them to Serenity. After a brief quibbling of details, River departs and Mal and Jaime engage in an early morning romp before heading out to start the day. Or not, since Damion is out roaming around.
River had awakened that morning to voices issuing warnings, and had searched the room over searching for them before she had determined they were just in her head, and no - she was not imagining them.
Ah yes.
It was Chaos' turn.
She took quick stock of herself and the situation as she knew it. Yes, things did seem to be very chaotic - both worlds were now without leadership - but at least the risk of injury had been minimized this time. Yes, significant damage could still be done, and the risk of later issues had increased due to the knowledge that Damian would likely learn during his stay here...
But River was of the mind that it could be much worse.
She was also nervous. She had refrained from speaking to Mal yesterday because she knew that he would be worried about Jaime, but he had had a whole day to get over that now. Surely that was enough? And she was anxious to speak to him about Kyle.
Hoping it was late enough in the morning and he would not still be sleeping, she headed down to his - and Jaime's, she presumed, but she didn't have a problem with Jaime being present for this discussion - room and rapped lightly on the door. If she didn't receive a response, she would make a lap of the dorms and return again at regular intervals until she got one.
There was no need to be overly pushy, after all.
