He'd stopped by the potions lab to make himself something to assist with a vague sort of muscle ache. His chest still hurt from where he'd been blasted by that woman with the blue hair. He had no idea what spell she'd thrown at him - if it had even been a spell - but it still smart a bit. He was rubbing it lightly when he moved into the cafeteria looking for Lily.
He didn't really bother with food. He wasn't all that hungry.
"Hey," he said quietly as he sat down across from her, reaching across the table for her hand. "How are you feeling?"
She'd been dropped, after all. He hoped she wasn't still sore.
"I'll survive," she assured him as she took his hand, squeezing it gently. "And yourself?" she murmured. It had been ... well, chaotic out on the field when they'd been in the midst of the skirmish, but she thought he had only been hit that once.
She had a few bruises, but nothing that she felt needed medical attention - though she definitely wouldn't say no to a massage later. Or a soak in the tub. Maybe with candles. She smiled faintly to her thoughts as she gazed across the table toward him.
"A slight sore, but nothing I cannot manage," he said warmly, smiling at her gently. He ran his thumb over her knuckles lightly, and gazed around the room, a soft sigh on his lips. "We got lucky this time," he said quietly. "It could have been... so much worse than it was."
He didn't mean just them, either - all of DauphinMare had gotten off lucky this time around. He wondered too how many items they had managed to collect.
"I know," she said softly as she squeezed his hand lightly. She lifted his hand to her lips, pressing a kiss to his knuckles as she gazed at him, a little smile tugging at her lips. "But it's their turn next, isn't it?"
She supposed she knew the answer to that, and she sighed inwardly. She was not looking forward, at all, to Chaos' turn. Not when their last turn had wound her up defenseless in the other bubble.
His gaze grew hard, and he looked away, glaring into the corners of the room as though he could see 'chaos' standing there, and could directly resent the fact that he despised when they had a go.
"I wonder if the skip option is still available," he mused quietly. But he strongly doubted it. Besides, they probably couldn't call a skip for someone else's turn - only their own.
"I won't let anything happen to you," he said fiercely to Lily. "Not if I can help it."
He'd stay up all night watching out for her, if others were prone to distraction.
She decided not to point out he likely couldn't have helped last time ... but what did she know? Riverfell may have come in and manually abducted them - though she doubted that.
"I know you won't," she murmured to him. "Nor would I let anything happen to you, if I could help it," she continued before she released his hand.
Exhaling softly, she shook her head. Well, they had no idea when the turn would be; no sense in wasting the day worrying about it. "So, what's our plan for today? Fun with potions?"
A smile smile twitched at the corners of his lips. "If you wanted," he said with a nod. "Though we certainly didn't have to if you were not interested. I didn't have any plans."
Certainly, beyond spending the day with Lily, he hadn't had any ideas for what he wanted to do. And he thought that the 'our plans' indicated to him that she was just as interested in that.
She tsk'd softly at him. "Not interested? I think the only person more interested in potions here than me, is you." She rubbed her thumb over the back of his hand gently, a little smile on her lips.
Potions grounded her, relaxed her, and after the morning, she thought she wanted that. And she could make up another batch of the potion for the girls; some of them were bound to need another dose soon.
"Of course, we could skip the potions, and we could go back to my room and I could con you into a backrub," she murmured thoughtfully. "Though I suppose that's not nearly as interesting for you as potions would be."
A wide grin spread across Severus' face, and he tried to pass off his next comment as nonchalant, but his eyes were dancing.
"No, of course not," he said teasingly. "Potions have far more intrigue than giving a backrub to a beautiful girl," he said. "Yes, I would much rather go down to the potions lab and brew something for the rest of the afternoon."
Her head canted slightly and she looked confused. "I meant me, Sev. Not some other girl." The only sign she was teasing was the gleam in her eyes. "I suppose I could go entertain myself with potions while you do that."
She smiled, then tilted her head. "Shall we get to that, then?" she murmured. Maybe she'd swing by Jaime's room and borrow some of her oil or something.
Well, steal. Jaime had offered, once upon a time, after all.
He started to splutter, to correct his words, to let her know that he'd been teasing - but he caught sight of that gleam in her eye, and the words fell from his lips. He grinned at her.
"Beautiful was the wrong term," he murmured. "Stunning, perhaps, is what I should have gone with. Though even that doesn't capture how astounding you are."
He nodded to her suggestion that they should depart, and since he hadn't gotten any food, he rose up to follow her from the table and presumably to her room after that - though maybe there was a stop or two she wanted to make first.
She flushed a little at his words, dropping her eyes shyly. She did follow him out of the cafeteria, though she sent him ahead to her room while she stopped by Jaime's room. Not the one she was sharing with Mal, but the one she still kept some of her stuff in. She snatched a bottle of the oil and left a note to let Jaime know where it had gone - though she realized halfway through writing that Jaime could track it down easily enough.
Oh, well.
Holding the bottle lightly, she retreated to her own room before she slipped inside, closing and locking the door behind herself. She was not at all inclined to be interrupted.
He'd gone ahead at her instructions, though he'd been somewhat reluctant to, and was now painfully curious about what it was that she had to pick up. He moved toward her when she entered, wrapping his arms gently around her waist.
"What did you get?" he asked her curiously, starting to move his hands from her waist to find her hands to see if he could find out before she told him.
Lily laughed as she tried to pull her hands away. "Severus," she chastised him playfully before she leaned in to try to distract him with a deep kiss - though she did uncurl her fingers to let him have the bottle of oil if he was that insistent on having it.
Besides, he'd be the one using it on her. At least for now. Maybe she'd get around to him later - unless she got distracted or he wore her out.
He was sufficiently distracted by the kiss, stilling his hands and curiosity for the moment as he pressed his lips against hers. Certainly, it was intriguing - whatever she had - but this was a far better reward.
Of course, his distraction didn't last long, and he continued to search for her hands to figure out what she had gotten, coming away with the bottle of oil. He pulled away from her then, his brow furrowing as he moved to inspect it. He raised an eyebrow at Lily curiously.
She arched her brows in response. Surely, in all his years, he must have encountered massage oil before. "Jaime uses it when she gives massages," she explained. "I thought you might like to give it a try," she continued.
"Of course, if you'd rather not ..." she trailed off and shrugged before she dropped her hands to her waist, lifting her shirt off. "I suppose we don't need to experiment."
