Vidding woes

So I've put my big toe in to the vidding waters again. I have a copy of Sony Vegas editing software, and I thought I'd give it a twirl. I just wanted to load some stuff in to get a feel for the program when I ran into my first problem. The software dislikes xvid divx avis even though it's supposed to support avi files. It'll load the audio, but not the video even though I have all the right codecs. So either I have to figure out some way to make it recognize the video, or I have to convert everything. I thought, well, I'm just playing around at this point, I'll just convert one of my Supernatural eps and then play a bit to figure out how the program works. So I have a video converter and I change the avi to a wmv file...which takes about 5 hours. *sigh* So either I've got to figure out how to get Vegas to accept the codecs I know I have, or I have to find a better way to convert things...or I'll just have to stop using avis all together and only vid stuff I can rip myself to whatever format I like. So much for progress.

In other news, I still haven't watched the new SGA. I won't get to watch the new Supernatural until who knows when since I have to wait for the download since I'm working tonight and I have class and work all day/night tomorrow. I skipped class yesterday because I just didn't feel like going and the fact that I slept in until 30min after the class had started probably didn't help.

Someone shoot me now.
