And then there was the snap-hiss and persistent hum of a lightsaber being ignited as Tahiri stepped into her path with preternatural, almost sensual smoothness and a predatory smile on her face.

"Hello, big sister."

Savannah stared, her eyes widening in horror. This couldn't be anything but bad.

"T-Tahiri."

She knew that things were very bad and very different in this world than back home, but this was one of those shocks that she wasn't prepared for.

"I don't want to fight you."

That didn't mean she wasn't doing her best to call up a knock-back spell while cocking her crossbow.

"Of course you don't," Tahiri replied nonchalantly with a scornful look at Savannah's weapons. "A crossbow, really? Of all the ways beings have tried to take down a Sith, that's a new one."

She narrowed her eyes and the head snapped off the crossbow bolt -- then a careless gesture of her free hand made the crossbow itself snap in two just above the stock.

"And a really stupid one, if you ask me."

"I'm not the one that decided to get between you and some place you were trying to get to," Savannah managed to say after she got over her shock about the crossbow's destruction. Or had she stopped Tahiri some other time? Had she and her alternate self fought before? "I hadn't expected that I was planning to take you down." Sith? Oh shit. She knew that wasn't anything good.

Where was Professor Skywalker when you needed him?

"Who said I was trying to get anywhere?" Tahiri asked coolly, even though it was true; she had an appointment to get to. Savannah had just happened to be there, and it was always amusing to toy with her.

This is what happens when you let a half-trained fledgling Sith loose with nothing much to do besides obsess over a dead boy.

She sifted through her host body's memories, trying not to show her shock at some of things she saw that happened between her and Tahiri. Was everyone she loved insane in this fucking place?

"Because you always are," she said calmly. "When you're not being a bitch to me. Now, if you will just step out of my way, you can go to where you were heading and I can go to where I was heading. Everyone wins."

"Don't overestimate yourself," Tahiri scoffed. "You're not on my mind that much."

She brought her hand up in a clenching gesture, as if she was getting a grip on something, and focused her control of the Force on tightening around Savannah's throat.

Savannah gasped and when she couldn't break the action physically, she drew up the spell in her mind and sent out a knock-back spell at Tahiri. She didn't want to kill the other girl, just make her let go.

The impact of the spell showed on Tahiri's face, but she narrowed her eyes again and used the Force to stick herself in place.

"Really, Savannah, is that all you can do?" she asked, constricting her Force-grip a little more tightly around Savannah's windpipe. She didn't plan to choke her to death, at least not yet, but it was a nice technique to start off with.

Stupid magic dampening.

She wasn't going to die like this, she wasn't. She wasn't going to let Tahiri choke her to death.

She shook her head, no it wasn't all she could do but lack of breathing made it hard to respond. She called up another spell and this time let loose with an ice spell at Tahiri.

She'd always been good at a Force wall, and Tahiri threw one up carelessly to deflect the ice, then released the Force choke -- but only after tightening it almost to the point of strangulation.

"There's no point to this, you know. Why are you bothering?"

"Why are you always trying to hurt me?" Savannah demanded when she could speak again. "I haven't done shit to you."

Partially true, she was sure.

"Because you're in my way." With inhuman -- and that was saying something for everything Tahiri'd ever been in her life and unlife -- speed, she darted forward and lashed out with a vicious kick at Savannah's ribs. "Because you won't tell me what I want to know, and I know you're holding out on me."

Savannah cried out in pain and she felt at least one, maybe two of her ribs give way. The pain was incredible and she couldn't fight back the tears.

"Because what you want isn't possible, Tahiri! I told you that!"

"It's possible," Tahiri insisted, her eyes going yellow with fury as she threw her free hand out to hit Savannah with a hard telekinetic blast. "It has to be possible! If anyone would know, it's you. Are you going to tell me what I need to know, or do I have to rip it out of you?"

Savannah's head jerked sideways and through the haze of pain and the taste of blood in her mouth, she saw Johnny across the way and he looked like he was in trouble. She had to get to him and help him. She turned back to Tahiri, trying to be defiant even though she was hurting and bleeding.

"Tahiri, be reasonable." Yeah, like that was going to happen. "I have never lied to you about this. The circumstances make it impossible to accomplish."

She was tired of taking all of the blows and did her best to throw a weak knock-back spell at Tahiri.
