I believed Mister Grady to be the Game Master's piece, but now it seems I was mistaken. This mystery runs deeper than I had expected.

...I sorely hope I'm not disappointed. By this mystery or by Mister Grady's actions.

Mister Grady appears to be a good choice of a piece to use as a distraction, though.

While Mister Grady may be good choice, he is also an obvious choice. This situation either means the Game Master is incompetent or that he is deliberately using the obvious choice for his plan.

...Either way, it is move I have come across many times. So if this move is a simple distraction, I will be disappointed.

It actual simplicity, or lack thereof, most likely depends on the nature of this particular game. It may be that misleading is of no concern to the gamemaster in question.
