Dear kitty

I've fallen in love.

My parents and I were out looking at Christmas lights tonight. We stopped at one house, and I got out to take a couple photos. I was only able to snap one when this orange and white kitty came walking along the fence.
"Oh, hello there, kitty!" I greeted.
"Merow," dear kitty returned politely.
Dear kitty then jumped down from the fence and walked right up to me. Dear kitty sniffed and licked at my exposed toes (I was wearing sandals. I know it's December. I live in California, mind.) and then thoroughly rubbed itself around my legs. From inside the car my parents were getting anxious:
"Remember, I'm allergic to cats." My dad warned.
"Come back in the car now! It might have fleas!" Said my mom.
But I could not come back in. Puddles can not move, and I had melted into one, watching dear kitty roll onto it's back, just begging for a tummy rub.
"Come on, I'm really allergic!" said my dad, who really doesn't care much for cats to begin with, allergies or not. Just a couple moments later dear kitty hopped onto the hood of the car.
My dad sighed and then spoke for dear kitty, "Oh, is this the guy I'm suppose to torture?"
But dear kitty had no ill intentions. Dear kitty was just inspecting me further, and wanted a better view. Dear kitty then climbed up to the roof of the car, at which point my mom hurriedly closed her window. Dear kitty looked at me softly, and then climbed back down to the hood. Dear kitty stayed there for a few minutes, and my parents became more and more anxious. "Scat cat!" I heard my dad say faintly from the fortress of the car.
"Come here, kitty!" I smiled and ran up a bit of the sidewalk, patting at my leg for it to follow me. Dear kitty immediately jumped from the hood and ran right up toward me. "Oh, what a good kitty you are!" I gushed and stroked it behind its ears. I then headed back for the car, but dear kitty was still following me. My heart broke at the thought of having to leave dear kitty, but I knew my parents were growing extremely impatient. I hurriedly got back in the car, and dear kitty watched me sadly. My dad drove off, and I watched dear kitty observe the car driving away before turning around and hopping back onto the fence.

I wish I could have taken dear kitty home with me. *sighs* I really hope it has a very nice, warm home of its own. Dear kitty really was the sweetest kitty I've ever met.

How can anyone not fall madly in love with that?

I do hope the two black strays who patron my backyard won't be angry with me if they smell the scent of a strange and different kitty on me, though.
