Chapter 6
“The Intruder”

The midnight hour grew long. The ticking of the clock beat at her head. She sat alone in her bedroom still waiting on Dawn. The children’s story of the light sword kept her worried. All the what-ifs kept her mind busy. She knew she had to put it away, so she rose from her bed and made her way down the stairs.
He, of course, looked at peace and she couldn’t help but wander if perhaps he had anything to do with the “magic” Avery had claimed she saw. At his bedside she couldn’t help but look over his face. It had been awhile since she’d seen such kind features. Lance at one time had had them but he had morphed quickly into an animal. Ana took a seat at his side and took his hand. She felt at ease around him, felt light and free. She felt…eyes upon her. Her body became tense and she looked around.
Someone was there, Ana knew it. She felt it deep in her soul .She removed the light sword from Obi-Wan’s hand and stepped out of the bubble. Her eyes darted from each window all around the room. The black night could hold anything and she wouldn’t even know they were coming. Lightning flashed and lit up her yard. The silhouette of another ship was the only thing visible. A ship that wasn’t there to begin with, Ana’s breath became still as the lightning flashed a shadow of a tall figure on the wall. A figure- outside.
The window busted open and a man dressed in solid black landed flat-footed on the glass. Her heart started pounding, her flesh crawled. She had not fought for years, but she would die before she let another invade this home.
“Who are you? “ Ana asked her voice strong and demanding, but she received no reply from the strange near apparition that stood before her. Switching on the blade, it sang to life, the vivid blue lighting up the room. A small chuckle left the lips of the one opposite her.
“Is that the best you’ve got?” his voice called out to her. A dark sinister almost monotone voice, which grated at her every near shot nerve. Ana’s stance only became firmer as she glared back at him.
He started to circle her, making his way to Obi-Wan. With a flick of his wrist a gloved hand lit his own light saber up. Red in color this one matched hers in size. Ana felt her heart pound out of her chest as she let him circle her.
“Get out!” she ordered. He looked at Obi-Wan and grinned.
“It’s funny…” his voice hissed, “How even so close to death…” he raised his light saber to threaten hers…”Obi-Wan dreams of beauty.”
Ana narrowed her eyes and stopped the little game. Dropping a blow quickly down, it was blocked. He couldn’t help but laugh.
“Good…”he said pressing her sword back, “Now this time…”
The Ace of Clubs cut his sentence short…literally.
Remy stood in the doorway cigarette in his mouth, “Mon Ami, don mess wit dis family,”
In his mind that the man thought about what an enjoyable time he was going to have obliterating this little stand the pair made. Turning, he lifted his blade to each charged card that came his way. Blast after blast was tearing more and more of the room apart.
The man was soon so close to Remy he could smell jet fuel on his clothes.
“Mon Dieux. I must say,” Remy took a step closer to the pretty boy, “You got Remy on dis one,” With a raise of his hand the man in black sent Remy into the wall and he could not help but smile.
Startled by a light tap on his shoulder the man turned to meet a well-groomed fist square in the face…sending him spiraling into the wall. Ana stood over him and took his saber from his hands, “As he said before…don’t mess with this family.”

The next morning brought a thick fog but the sun tried to shine through. Katt’s jeep pulled up, and she seemingly was glowing with rest and relief. The War had moved from their galaxy and pressed on light years away. Remy sat shirtless on the front porch as he watched the cars pull in the driveway. Silent, he sat still a bit winded from the night before. She pressed past him and into the house where Ana was just finishing putting up the last bit of plastic to cover her now shattered window.
Katt’s eyes turned wide as she looked around at the mess.
“Should I even ask?”
Men filed in behind her, all in shock. The great cathedral ceiling now hung new chains and the man in black hung there-hog-tied and gagged.
Ana glared at Katt, “How about you ask Mr. DARKY?” she said grabbing the broom and sweeping away the debris.
Katt walked towards the hanging figure, a half-cocked grin at the man sent her hands to her hips. The man’s hard, blue eyes beamed down and even gagged he smiled…lightly.
“Did he give you trouble?” Katt asked seeing the black eye he now had. She cross-stepped to where the chains connected to the wall.
“Hmm…what does it look like? What is LEFT of my home is now in shattered PARTS,” Ana said huffing then tilting her head, “But then again, it wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle.”
Katt pulled loose the chain and let the man down. Ana instinctively stepped between him and the medical tent that housed Obi-Wan. Ready and waiting she stood fists balled.
As the man’s black boots hit the floor, Katt undid his hands, which were tied with a bra no less. She had to hand it to Ana the quick-thinker that she was.
The man towered over Katt, shoulders broad and square. Reaching up she undid his gag and just smiled into his face. They embraced and tightly held on to one another. At that point, Ana threw her hands into the air and whirled around.
“I thought you would have been here by now, “ Katt spoke not letting him go. Remy’s blood began to boil from the doorway. Nothing to him went unnoticed, not even the small crystal tear that threatened to fall from Katt’s eye. There was something that was uplifted from her shoulders, with him standing in her arms. A weight, seemingly over three tons, completely gone now.
“Oh my God, Anakin,” she finally broke into sobs still clinging to him, “ I heard you were killed.”
No one knew quite like Remy how much it took to make Katt cry in front of anyone, how much it took to even unsettle her iron nerves. Remy felt as if he were watching years of worry coming to an end for Katt. He felt that this boy, Anakin’s mere sight, overwhelmed her. Deep in his heart, Remy burned with jealousy.
Trying to collect herself, Katt just grasped his arms and looked him over.
“So many new things, so much has changed. New scars, long hair, his body full and hard. You’ve grown up.” Katt said resting the palm of her hand to his cheek. “Come meet my family,”
Ana was standing next to Remy ready to scream in complete outrage.
“Ana, Remy…this is Anakin Skywalker.”
Anakin bowed his head slightly to the pair. Dark, sinister eyes lightening up. Remy tilts his chin to him and Ana gives a half-hearted smile. Introduction over, Anakin moved past the pair. He steps to Obi-Wan’s side and kneeling beside his master in a swift prayer he placed two fingers under his chin, checking for pulse.
“He needs higher elevation, Kitona, it would be harder for him to recover,” Anakin said sharply.
Katt stepped to the two men, “Yes, we’re working on a loft in Chicago now. It will be completed within the next few days,”
Anakin’s monotone voice carried to Ana, “That was, Miss, you can have your home back,” Blue hues crystal and clear held no sparkle for her just unspoken words.
Katt turned to Ana, arms crossed under her breasts, “Ana, I’d like to speak with you about that actually, when you have a few minutes of course,”
Ana simply nodded.

Opening the front door, Lance acted as if he still lived in the wide, country home. His keys dropped into the same place they always had, and he hung his coat in the same spot that had held it for years. He lifted his attention to the small conversation going on in the breakfast hall.
Katt went over the loft plans and how after this was all done she could have it.
“Is the company moving the operation there? Should I pack?” Lance asked stepping towards the small table.
Katt looked quickly at Ana and then she spoke, “ Actually, Lance, you’re still planning to leave in a week, so we’ve cut you from this program for the time being.”
Lance looked crushed, yet he was not sad. Anger…anger filled his eyes-and his heart. He knew Katt was doing this for Ana. He knew Ana wanted him out of the picture. Little did they both know-Lance had counted on this.
